Anna & Maria Sats Studio - Countries

Each country has its own unique style. It is very interesting to see how the specific aspects of every nation are applied to artwork or photograhy. Some of the pictures which are dedicated to specific countries from the collection of Anna and Maria Sats are displayed in this category.

Canada is a country occupying most of the northern most part of North America, extending from the Atlantic Ocean in the east to the Pacific Ocean in the west and northward into the Arctic Ocean. It is the world's second largest country by total area, and shares land borders with the United States to the south and northwest. Because of this the nature of Canada varies dramatically throughout the whole nation and thus it provides many opportunities for an artist to present the most interesting and visually stunning areas of this vast and interesting country.

Czech or Czech Republic - There is much more to the Czech Republic than simply the city of Prague! The country’s smaller towns have plenty to offer the people visiting them, who will be impressed by the well-preserved historical centers and carefully maintained monuments, whose importance often transcends regional borders. Those cities, monuments, gardens, old castles and national parks are amazing places for every artist and offer great opportunities for creating enchanting works of art.

Italy has been the home of a host of rich and interesting European cultures such as the Etruscans and the Romans, and it was later the birthplace of the universities and of the Renaissance movement, which began in Tuscany and spread all over Europe. For centuries Rome, Italy's capital city, was the center of Western civilization; it also spawned the Baroque movement and seats the Catholic Church. Italy possessed a colonial empire from the mid-nineteenth century to the mid-twentieth century. Italy is comprised of numerous enchanting cities and scenery waiting to catch the imagination of the willing artist. A wide variety of historical places and beautiful nature has led to stunning photographs and works of art created by Anna and Maria Sats in Italy.

Spain is a treasure-trove of arts and culture, brimming with fabulous Flamenco, music, history, painting, architecture, literature, cinema, sport, bullfighting and fiestas! The exuberance of the Spaniards and the glorious inevitability of the spectacular summer weather have been attracting artists and photographers from all over the world for centuries. Spain is drenched in the historical pageantry of the empire and conquistadors, the artistic legacy of Goya, Velázquez, Picasso and Dalí, and the romance of Don Quixote, Papa Hemingway and the International Brigades.

The Ukraine - This is beautiful country situated in Eastern Europe. Ukrainian culture was heavily influenced by Russia and the majority of national artists, poets, writers were inspired in the past by Russian culture, as they continue to be to this day. Besides its rich history, Ukraine has absolutely wonderful nature. The most beautiful part of the Ukraine is the Crimean peninsula, which is located at the very south of the country on the coast of the warm and inviting Black Sea. This peninsula is thought by many to be the best place in the entire ex-USSR territory due to its unique warm climate, wonderful sea, and the nature which cannot be found anywhere else in the world. All this has greatly influenced the artwork of Anna and Maria Sats and they have dedicated a lot of their works of art to the Crimea.

The USA - American art and literature have taken most of their cues from Europe. In the visual arts, the Hudson River School was an important mid-19th-century movement in the tradition of European naturalism. The 1913 Armory Show in New York City, an exhibition of European modernist art, shocked the public and transformed the country’s art scene. Georgia O'Keeffe, Marsden Hartley, and several other talented artists experimented with new artistic styles, showing a highly individualistic sensibility. Major artistic movements such as the abstract expressionism of Jackson Pollock and Willem de Kooning and the pop art of Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein developed largely in the United States. The tide of modernism and then postmodernism has brought fame to American architects such as Frank Lloyd Wright, Philip Johnson, and Frank Gehry.
